2022.01.16 15:24 bananasvetlana Is this a windowsill?
We have recently bought a new build which has incredibly poor workmanship and they’ve made some really weird design choices throughout the flat. One thing we’ve noticed is they have put in really large windowsills that are about 20cm deep on the floor beneath our floor length windows. It’s literally just a wood panel on the floor that seems to be serving no purpose. Looking online I can’t see any pictures of floor length windows with these weird huge window sill. And when I google ‘floor length window sills’ nothing comes up that represents what is in our home.
We want to try and get rid of them because we will have a whole lot more floor space, but I can’t find any how to guides or guidance online. Are these necessary? Do they have a particular name that I’m not aware of? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

2022.01.16 15:24 SilvrHorizon Thoughts on systems of measurement
I'm curious about your thoughts on the metric system and if you'd like your country to switch over? Do you think that such a switch will happen some time in the future?
Also, I'd like to know if the conversions are as complicated as some people make it out to be or if it is something you get used to?
I just want to hear your general thought on the matter as

2022.01.16 15:24 Qreyon Early graduation or Fughor's Timepiece ?
So I'm returning player, haven't played for a few years, and I recently came back and completed the season with a fresh character. Now that I've done that I'm kind of torn as to what I'm supposed to do next.
On one hand I like the class I've been playing with (Sage) and would like to keep grinding with it as a main. I managed to PEN all my Tuvala gears (except 4 accessories), which are the only high-end gears I have so I would like to be able to turn them into boss gear for my Sage.
One the other hand, I can have a free level 61 character, and not go through all the main quests once again, saving tons of hours. But I would be forced to exchange my Sage Tuvala weapons for whatever free class I'll choose, leaving my Sage with no weapons and no armors (correct me if I'm wrong).
I also read somewhere that some stuff like Health XP and a % of Skills points would not carry over.
What would be the best way to go? What are the pros and what are the cons in each hand?

2022.01.16 15:24 Background_Common652 Might be useful to someone
So it’s not usual dating post that we all come around but it’s just my thoughts that want to share so usually whenever I look for any post people have mention they looking for someone with some kind of quality like he/she should not like this or that must be good looking for from that place and more so. Again by saying this I don’t won’t to offend anyone that they should not have expectations or settle for less than they deserve We imagine our future love to be all the things we’ve wished for since we were little. We create an image in our minds of what this relationship will look like, feel like, how it will smooth over and mend all the tiny broken pieces of our heart and make us whole again. but the idea is when we are putting so much pressure on our self things get really hard sometimes to find a genuine connection because everyone looking for someone to find a perfect partner, but sometime we forget that in reality no one is perfect and it’s all about adjusting and accepting rather then ignoring truths. Again it’s just personal opinion no one ask for feel like posting it here there no intentions to harm of offend anyone.

2022.01.16 15:24 conscious_dream If you can't specifically pinpoint the exact biological point where a fetus becomes a human, abortion is akin to drunk driving in that you're taking a high risk of killing a person
Once upon a time, I simply avoided the topic of abortion. The argument is neither about pro-choicers condoning murder, nor is it about pro-lifers wanting to flippantly control women's bodies. It's about whether or not abortion is "murder" (in a loose sense, since murder is technically just an illegal killing). So at its core, it's about when a fetus is a person.
To that end, I think at the very least it's reasonable to posit that when the baby passes through a vagina is incredibly arbitrary and frankly illogical. That would mean premature babies become human significantly sooner than their regular term counterparts, even though biologically there's nothing different between them. So I think it's fair to say that such a line should be drawn somewhere between conception and birth, but that's as narrow a range as I can confidently give.
So for the longest time, I just avoided these conversations. How can I have an opinion one way or the other on the ethics of abortion if I can't answer the fundamental question at the heart of the issue?
Then the Change my View guy, well... changed my view :P It's a simple line of logic: if you're driving down the road when something dark and possibly human starts crossing the road or is right at the curb, you either swerve to avoid it or hit your breaks if necessary. You err on the side of caution and assume it's human to avoid accidentally killing someone.
I think most everyone who isn't a sociopath would agree that killing humans is generally bad. Killing defenseless humans who pose no mortal threat to you is even worse. Killing the homeless to spare them the pain of an impoverished life would be psychopathic. It all boils down to whether or not a fetus is a human, because no argument for abortion (save perhaps in situations where the mother's life is at risk) works if you apply the same logic to any other human.
Why is drunk driving so awful? Because you might kill someone. You don't even have to actually hurt someone to do jail time; you just have to risk it. If you can't definitively say that a fetus isn't a human, then you are risking killing a human. Why should it be any different? Because a fetus can't speak up for itself? Neither can a newborn. Because it's convenient? That's heartless.
If you can't definitively say that a fetus isn't a human and provide a sound, medical point at which a fetus becomes a human and gains the right to life, you shouldn't support abortion. To believe that drunk driving is bad because you might kill someone, killing homeless people is bad because it's straight up murder, swerving on the road to avoid what might be a human is good, but killing what might be a human person is fine so long as they haven't slid through a vagina yet is logically inconsistent.

2022.01.16 15:24 Luccar21 Would like to get into Guild Wars 2 but I'm intimidated by the cost
Iv been doing a bit of research in regards to the content I get with my purchases, and I can't help but currently feel really discouraged with the upfront cost. Even for 100$ I won't even be getting all the content in the game, which I think is pretty ridiculous. Im the kind of player that gets really invested into a games story so when I heard that the Living World has important pieces of story locked behind them, I knew Id have to get them if I was serious about playing this game.. Yes I know I can purchase the episodes with in game gold, but I don't want to play through the story in a disjointed way. Honestly Im not really sure what kind of answer Im looking for by posting my grievances here, maybe you guys can sell me on the content so I'd feel better about my purchase, or do the living worlds go on sale often?

2022.01.16 15:23 Bike_Shedd PID steam routine
Just fitted the Shades of coffee PID - massive shout out to Mr Shades who was on hand to give me some help when I misread the instructions! Legend.
Struggling slightly with keeping steam pressure up. What have you guys got as your steam temp and when do you start steaming? I had no problem with my old temp surfing technique but I’ve not figured out how to get the best out of the PID yet. Currently got mine set to 140.
Also on brew temp? Any little tricks people do? I have mine set to 96degC (with the -8 offset as recommended). Got some pretty light roasted coffee just now.

2022.01.16 15:23 pinkpanzer76 How can movie scriptwriting techniques help Game Masters
I am sharing this because I found it useful as a Game Master. It might be useful for other GMs around here. If you are interested in a longer form discussion of this subject, you can check my book (price set to “Pay what you want”): https://www.dmsguild.com/product/383252/The-MovieGoing-DungeonMaster-How-scriptwriting-techniques-can-help-you-build-better-stories-for-the-tabletop
I’ve have close to thirty years of experience in RPG’s, most of the time as GM, but turning my ideas into playable stories on the tabletop was always hard.
Some time ago, I started reading movie scriptwriting manuals. The most useful was Screenplay: The Foundations of Screenwriting, by Syd Field, first published in 1979.
Western stories are frequently split into three acts: the introduction, the development and the resolution. This might be enough for some, but it is too abstract for me to use as a GM.
Syd Field identifies five significant moments in most stories: * the inciting incident puts the story into motion * the Plot Point 1 marks the transition from Act 1 into Act 2 and is when the protagonist goes from being passive to becoming active * the Midpoint happens in the middle of the story and is when the protagonist realizes the stakes are higher than expected; if there is an antagonist, he goes on the offensive, putting the protagonist in reactive mode * the Plot Point 2 marks the transition from Act 2 into Act 3 and is when the protagonist finds what he needs to deal with whatever problems they are facing in the story (or to face the antagonist) * the climax takes place when the protagonist is dealing with the problem or facing the antagonist
To prepare for that, I found it very useful to answer, in the order presented below, a few questions regarding the story I wanted to play with my group:
